Job Title: Bank Home Care Support Worker

Pay: £13.00 - £16.25 per hour + Paid Mileage @ 43p per mile & company pension
Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Bank Female Home Care Workers to provide essential support and assistance to clients in their own homes. This role involves delivering personalised care to individuals including elderly clients, those with chronic illnesses, mobility impairments or individuals recovering from illness or surgery. The ideal candidate will have experience in working within the community, patient care, or nursing home environments, and possess a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others through attentive and respectful caregiving.
In addition to competitive pay, staff are paid for their full shift hours irrespective of gaps between calls. For example, if a shift runs from 7:30–14:00, the worker is paid for the entire shift, not just the contact and wait time.
Mileage is also reimbursed at 43p per mile, on top of the full shift wage.
Travel time is also accounted for during shift so staff have adequate time to arrive safely from one call to another without feeling rushed.
Opportunities for the post to progress into permanent contractual hours are available for the right candidate.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Support with medication administration and health monitoring as required
- Prepare meals tailored to individual dietary needs
- Provide companionship and emotional support to minimise feelings of loneliness or isolation
- Help with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Manage behaviour challenges with patience and understanding, especially in cases involving dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Support clients with specialised needs such as hospice or palliative care
- Assist with light physical activities and exercises as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Document care provided accurately in accordance with organisational policies
Skills
- Prior experience in working within the community, home care, nursing home care, or home care services is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient care techniques, including dementia and Alzheimer's care
- Ability to perform first aid and respond effectively in emergency situations
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards clients of all ages, including children and seniors
- Excellent timekeeping for arriving on time for scheduled calls
- Physical fitness to carry out the role effectively and safely, although 2 day manual handling training is provided under the All Wales Manual Handling Passport for new staff.
- Good organisational skills for managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Competence in meal preparation tailored to specific dietary requirements
- Effective behaviour management skills to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with clients and their families
