Transport Manager

Salary: £40,000 per annum

About the Role
As a fast-growing, multi-site organisation with a diverse customer base, Owens Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to lead operations at our Droitwich depot.
This is an exciting opportunity for a transport professional with strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a thorough understanding of transport compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the depot while driving performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Droitwich depot.

Allocate and manage transport resources to meet operational demands.

Work closely with the Planning team to ensure effective scheduling of vehicles, trailers, and drivers.

Maximise fleet utilisation, operational efficiency, and customer service performance.

Manage driver resources, including holiday planning and workforce availability.

Ensure full compliance with Driver Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive (WTD), and all transport legislation.

Monitor and improve on-time delivery performance across the regional fleet.

Promote and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture throughout the operation.

Conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.

Manage driver compliance, including infringement reviews and corrective measures.

Liaise with Payroll, HR, Accounts, and Invoicing departments as required.

Handle customer complaints professionally and effectively.

Conduct disciplinary and grievance meetings in accordance with company procedures and ACAS guidelines.

Produce regular operational and compliance reports, including weekly Health & Safety updates.

Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance depot performance.
What We're Looking For
Essential
-
Valid Transport Manager CPC qualification.

Previous transport management experience within a haulage, logistics, or distribution environment.

Strong understanding of transport legislation, driver compliance, and tachograph regulations.

Experience in transport planning and resource allocation.

Proven people management and leadership experience.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

Good level of IT literacy and experience using transport management systems.
