LUNCH COVER POSITION
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Lunch Cover Qualified Practitioner to join our nursery team and provide support during the busy lunchtime period.
The successful candidate will help create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for children while supporting their individual needs, wellbeing and development. You will work closely with the nursery team to ensure children have a positive and enjoyable mealtime experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting children during lunch and snack times.
- Encouraging children to develop independence and positive mealtime habits.
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks in line with nursery procedures and dietary requirements.
- Supporting children with personal care and hygiene routines.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
- Supervising children during mealtimes and indoor/outdoor play.
- Supporting children's emotional wellbeing and responding appropriately to their individual needs.
- Building positive relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
- Following the nursery's health and safety, safeguarding and infection-control procedures.
- Working as part of the wider nursery team and assisting with other appropriate duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- A warm, caring and patient approach to working with young children.

- An understanding of children's health, safety and wellbeing.
- The ability to follow nursery policies and procedures.
- A commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
- Previous experience working with children is desirable.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in a childcare or nursery setting
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practices
- Demonstrated management or leadership skills within a childcare environment
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Experience in nursery or preschool environments is highly desirable
- Valid driving license is preferred for roles involving transportation or home visits
- Previous childcare qualifications or certifications are advantageous
Relevant childcare qualifications, including an SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent, are essential.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 per week
