Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor/Youth Support Worker to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to young people within our community. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering positive development, building confidence, and promoting social inclusion. Duties
- Establish trusting relationships with young people through active listening and empathetic engagement
- Develop personalised support plans tailored to individual needs and goals
- Facilitate group activities, workshops, and one-to-one mentoring sessions that promote personal growth and skill development
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community organisations to ensure holistic support for young people
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interactions and achievements
- Provide guidance on education, employment, and social skills to empower young people towards independence
- Promote positive behaviour and conflict resolution strategies in various settings
- Assist in organising community events or programmes aimed at youth engagement and development
Skills
- Proven experience in coaching or mentoring roles, ideally working with children or young people
- Strong understanding of youth work principles and practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, demonstrating patience and empathy
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN) is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging activities and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to motivate and inspire confidence in young individuals
- Commitment to safeguarding policies and promoting a safe environment for all participants
