Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and proactive Sales Assistant / Shop Assistant to join our retail team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandising, and supporting daily store operations. This role offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in sales, communication, and organisational management within a dynamic retail environment. Fluency in multiple languages is highly desirable to better serve our diverse customer base.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products that meet their needs
- Provide detailed product information and answer customer queries effectively
- Support merchandising efforts by organising displays and ensuring stock is well-presented
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while maintaining excellent customer service standards
- Operate the cash register accurately, handle transactions efficiently, and process payments using various methods
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming shop environment
- Manage stock levels by receiving deliveries and restocking shelves as needed
- Assist with store opening and closing procedures, including basic administrative tasks
- Promote special offers and loyalty programmes to enhance customer engagement

Skills
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Good basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock management
- Effective time management to prioritise tasks during busy periods
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques to optimise product presentation
- Phone etiquette skills for handling customer enquiries via telephone or online channels
- Ability to upsell products tactfully to maximise sales opportunities
- Organisational skills to maintain an orderly shop floor and stockroom environment
