Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated site worker to join our onsite teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining steel structures and frameworks across various projects. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, utilising specialised skills in welding, fabrication, and assembly. The successful applicant will demonstrate mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a strong commitment to safety standards.
Duties
- Erecting steel frameworks and structural components on construction sites.
- Installation of secondary steelwork, balustrades, staircases and various other projects throughout Bristol and the UK.
- Cutting, welding, and assembling metal parts to specifications
- Using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to perform fabrication tasks
- Interpreting technical drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate assembly on site
- Conducting inspections of completed work to ensure quality and safety compliance
- Collaborating with team members and project managers to meet project deadlines and safety standards
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Experience in various welding techniques and general fabrication
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical drawings and blueprints
- Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks
- Proven experience as a steel fitter in the steel fabrication industry, with a strong background in working with mild steel.
- Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions promptly
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials safely
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in welding or ironworking are advantageous
- A valid CSCS Card is preferred. Additional certification (MEWPS, IPAF, PASMA) desirable.
- Additional training given where required
