Veterinary Receptionist – Maternity Cover

Highland Health Vets are looking for a friendly, caring and enthusiastic Veterinary Receptionist to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
The position is for 24 hours per week (Morning and evening shifts) including one in three Saturdays, 9am–1pm for reception cover. There is also the possibility that the role may become permanent following the fixed-term contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our reception, including:
Welcoming clients and their pets and providing a warm, professional first point of contact
Answering telephone calls and dealing with client enquiries
Booking and managing appointments
Processing payments and handling cash/card transactions
Processing medication and food orders and providing appropriate client guidance
Updating and maintaining accurate client and patient records
Liaising with veterinary surgeons, nurses and the wider practice team
Receiving deliveries and managing stock
Dealing with emails and general administration
Helping to maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area
Providing compassionate and sensitive support to clients, particularly during difficult or emotional situations
Promoting excellent client care and maintaining confidentiality at all times
Previous experience working in a veterinary reception role is preferred, although full training will be provided for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable, confident communicating with people, able to work as part of a team and, most importantly, genuinely passionate about providing excellent care to both our clients and their pets.

Skills
- Previous veterinary experience is highly preferred to understand clinical workflows and terminology
- Laboratory experience is a valuable asset for assisting with sample handling and record management
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and vendors
- Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
