Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems across our facilities. This role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, system design, and mechanical knowledge, with an emphasis on automation and control systems. The ideal applicant will possess experience with System on Chip (SoC), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and firmware development, contributing to the optimisation of our manufacturing processes and equipment reliability.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and machinery to ensure optimal operational performance.
- Analyse root causes of electrical faults using advanced diagnostic techniques and implement effective solutions.
- Develop and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks.
- Design and implement system upgrades or modifications with a focus on automation, including control logic programming with ARM microcontrollers or PLCs.
- Perform debugging and troubleshooting of embedded firmware using languages such as C++, Python, Perl, or MATLAB.
- Solder surface mount technology components and perform signal processing tasks as required for system enhancements.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Utilise simulation tools like Simulink to model system behaviour and optimise performance parameters.
- Maintain detailed documentation of schematics, system configurations, and maintenance records in accordance with industry standards.
- Assist in training team members on new electrical systems or upgrades.
Experience
- Proven experience in electrical engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical system design, including schematics creation and interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), firmware development, debugging, and soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks for system design documentation.
- Competence in analysing root causes of complex electrical issues using tools like MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Mechanical knowledge related to surface mount technology (SMT), system integration, and mechanical components is advantageous.
- Experience working with ARM microcontrollers or similar embedded systems is desirable. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to innovative projects within a dynamic environment while advancing their technical expertise in electrical maintenance engineering.
