Job post – Experienced engineer
Full‑time | Monday–Friday | Permanent Position
Start Date: ASAP
Inspect & Repair is looking for a reliable, hands‑on Engineer to join our growing team. We specialise in the inspection, maintenance and repair of play equipment across the South West, and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to build a long‑term career with us.
Inspect & Repair is a friendly, supportive company that genuinely values its employees. We believe people do their best work when they feel respected, encouraged and part of a team that looks out for one another. Our engineers are at the heart of what we do, and we’re committed to creating a positive working environment where staff feel appreciated, listened to and able to grow their skills over the long term.
About the Role
The role involves the servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of play equipment across parks, schools and community spaces. You’ll be responsible completing installations and repairs to a high standard and ensuring all work meets safety and compliance requirements. The job is hands‑on, outdoors and varied — no two sites are the same — so you’ll need to be comfortable working independently as well as alongside the wider team.
As part of the role, you’ll travel to different locations across the South West, interact professionally with clients and provide clear updates on the work being completed. You’ll also support the installation of new equipment and help maintain our reputation for quality, reliability and strong communication. This is a long‑term, full‑time position with opportunities to grow your skills and progress within the company as we continue to expand.
A Day in the Life of an Inspect & Repair Engineer
The day starts early at HQ, where engineers load up their vans with the tools, parts and materials needed for the jobs ahead. From replacement components and fixings to specialist equipment, everything is checked, stocked and organised so the team can work efficiently once out on site. A quick run‑through of the day’s schedule ensures everyone knows where they’re heading and what each job involves.
Once on the road, engineers travel between a variety of locations — schools, parks, community centres and play areas across the South West. No two days look the same. One job might involve repairing a damaged swing seat, the next could be wet pour patching or replacing worn posts. Each site brings its own challenges, and engineers use their practical skills, problem‑solving and attention to detail to make sure every piece of equipment is safe, compliant and ready for use.
Throughout the day, engineers communicate with the office team and update job notes, so that the office team can ensure clients are kept informed of progress. The work is hands‑on, outdoors and varied — ideal for someone who enjoys being active and working in different environments.
At the end of the day, engineers return to HQ to unload, restock and prepare for tomorrow. Tools are cleaned and checked, parts are replenished, and any follow‑up work is logged. It’s a chance to catch up with the team, review the day’s jobs and make sure everything is in place for a smooth start the next morning.
