About Us
We are a busy, well-established car repair garage and MOT station in Stockport, providing high-quality servicing, diagnostics, and repairs. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Garage Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain efficiency in the workshop.
Role Overview
As Garage Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the garage, managing a small team of mechanics, ensuring smooth workflow, and maintaining high customer service standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the automotive industry, leadership experience, and the ability to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Management: Oversee the daily operations of the garage, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs and MOTs.
- Customer Service: Build strong relationships with customers, handle inquiries, provide quotes, and resolve any issues.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, support, and motivate a team of mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship and productivity.
- Job Scheduling: Organize bookings, allocate jobs to mechanics, and manage workload effectively.
- Stock & Equipment Management: Monitor parts inventory, order stock as needed, and ensure all tools and equipment are maintained.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the garage operates in line with MOT and health & safety regulations.
- Financial Oversight: Assist with invoicing, cost control, and profitability of the business.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve service offerings, and attract new customers.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a garage management, workshop supervisor, or senior technician role.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle repairs, servicing, and MOT regulations.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts.
- Experience with garage management software and job scheduling.
- Full UK driving licence.
- MOT Tester certification (preferred but not essential).
