Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Delivery Van driver to join our team of Food Waste Warriers. In this role you will be responsible for collecting surplus food from Acton, deciding how to split the food between our community cafes and surplus food hubs and then safely transporting the food to our venues. This position is on Thursdays only from ~10am-3pm.
Duties
- Decide how to distribute surplus food between venues.
- Safely operate a medium sized van to deliver surplus food to 5 or 6 community cafes or surplus food hubs across Richmond-upon-Thames
- Load and unload goods, sometimes involving heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured properly for transit. Crate carriers are available at each venue.
- Collect empty crates and return them to Acton at the end of the day.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and temperature checks, as required
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during daily operations
Qualifications
- Experience driving a medium size van.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently during loading and unloading processes
- Warehouse or food experience is advantageous for understanding storage requirements
