Overview
A specialist secondary school in Clitheroe is recruiting a Pupil Wellbeing Practitioner to join their team from September. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition, moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, social communication challenges and SEMH needs.
Working closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access the secondary curriculum, develop confidence and achieve positive educational outcomes.
This is a full-time opportunity that has the potential to become a permanent role following a successful temporary period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Assist pupils in accessing learning activities across a range of curriculum subjects.
- Support the delivery of individual education plans and EHCP outcomes.
- Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Encourage positive engagement, participation and independence within lessons.
- Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs where required.
- Facilitate opportunities for personal development during lessons and wider school activities.
- Monitor, record and evaluate progress against individual targets.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and external professionals to ensure consistency across settings.
- Promote pupil wellbeing, inclusion and active participation in all aspects of school life.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children or young people within an educational setting.
- Understanding of SEND and inclusive learning practices.
- Knowledge of autism, SEMH or learning difficulties desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Patient, supportive and highly organised approach.
- Experience within secondary education, childcare or SEND settings beneficial.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Child Development or equivalent experience desirable.
Pay: £95.00-£115.00 per day
