Machine Operator
A4Labels.com is looking for a Machine Operator to join our team at our factory and warehouse in Fishersgate.
Hours and Pay
- 30 hours per week (Tuesday to Friday), with the intention of increasing to a full-time 37.5-hour week in the future.
- Start time: 8:00am or 9:00am
- Finish time: 4:00pm or 5:00pm
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break, taken at a time of your choosing.
- As a Living Wage Foundation accredited employer, the starting rate of pay is £13.45 per hour.
About the Role
The ideal candidate does not necessarily need previous experience in machine operation or manufacturing, as full training will be provided. However, you should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
This is a physical role and requires you to be on your feet for most of the working day. The most important quality we are looking for is attention to detail, as our labels are manufactured to tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre. Good numeracy skills are also essential.
Your primary responsibility will be operating machinery that converts raw materials into sheets of labels. From time to time, you may also be asked to assist with other warehouse duties. These can range from assembling boxes and general housekeeping to helping warehouse staff with deliveries and collections.
Benefits
- 20 days' paid holiday per year (pro rata), plus all public holidays.
- When the other Machine Operator is on annual leave, you may be asked to work Mondays. Any additional hours worked will be credited as time off in lieu.
- Overtime opportunities may occasionally be available. Overtime shifts may involve a 6:00am start or a 10:00pm finish and are paid at time and a half.
- Following a qualifying period, you will be automatically enrolled into the company pension scheme unless you choose to opt out.
Probationary Period
Any offer of employment will be subject to a three-month probationary period. During this time, either party may terminate employment with one week's notice.
Following successful completion of the probation period, the notice period will increase to one month for either party. In some circumstances, the probationary period may be extended.
