Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled General Maintenance Assistant / Handyperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to keep our facilities and equipment in excellent condition. This role requires a broad range of skills, including basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general maintenance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on building infrastructure (e.g., doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and floors).
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair minor plumbing and electrical systems, such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, replacing light fixtures, and resetting breakers.
- Assemble, install, and repair furniture, shelving, and other fixtures as needed.
- Carry out basic painting, plastering, and drywall repair tasks.
- Conduct general cleaning and upkeep of areas within and around the facility, including landscaping and minor exterior maintenance.
- Monitor and report on the condition of equipment, appliances, and systems, identifying issues before they escalate.
- Assist with setting up meeting rooms, moving furniture, and other manual tasks as required.
- Respond to maintenance requests and address them in a timely and efficient manner.
- Comply with safety protocols and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Perform other general maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a maintenance, handyperson, or facilities support role is preferred.
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general maintenance.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various physical environments (indoors/outdoors).
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual labor as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational training or certification in plumbing, electrical work, or other relevant trades.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
- Familiarity with basic computer skills for reporting or logging maintenance requests.
