About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager / Head Chef to lead our busy village pub kitchen. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering consistent, high‑quality food, managing the kitchen team, and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in producing great pub food.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the kitchen team, maintaining high standards of cooking and presentation.
- Plan and deliver menus, including specials, seasonal dishes, and Sunday roasts.
- Oversee food preparation and service to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries, and supplier relationships.
- Control kitchen costs, including waste management, portion control, and GP targets.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene regulations, and allergen procedures.
- Train, support, and develop kitchen staff.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and equipment upkeep.
- Work closely with management to support events, promotions, and busy service periods.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a pub or restaurant.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Creativity with menus and specials, with a focus on cost control.
- Reliable, organised, and passionate about great food and customer satisfaction.
