Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Blockman/Fish Prep Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong knife skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of working with fresh fish. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday 8am - 3pm.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and filleting & portioning fresh fish, ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in food production, a fishmongers, or butchery to develop their skills within a professional environment. The position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a passion for delivering exceptional product quality to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and fillet fresh fish according to specified standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the fish preparation area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Assist in the selection and handling of fresh seafood deliveries
- Ensure all products are stored correctly and rotated appropriately
- Support stock management by tracking inventory levels and reporting shortages
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times during food preparation and handling
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation
Skills
- Experience in fish preparation or butchery
- Culinary experience or background in food service environments such as restaurants or kitchens is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices within the food industry
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques specific to seafood
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team

Pay: £15.50-£17.00 per hour
