The STP EcoTéla Fund is a dedicated Conservation Trust Fund established to provide long-term, sustainable financial support for biodiversity conservation and environmental protection initiatives across Sao Tomé and Príncipe. The CEO of STP EcoTela Fund will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring the effective execution of the Fund's objectives. This role entails managing financial and operational aspects while fostering strong collaborations with governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private sector stakeholders, and international partners..
EXPECTED DELIVERABLES:
Strategic leadership and governance
Manage the fund operationalization in line with the Fund's mission, and governing and strategic documents (including fund operational manual)
Provide strategic advice and support to the Board of Directors.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Foster partnerships with governmental agencies, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders.
Program management
Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of funded projects.
Ensure effective evaluation and impact assessment of funded initiatives.
Promote innovation and best practices in conservation finance.
Financial management and fundraising
Lead fundraising efforts to mobilize resources from donors, financial and technical partners.
Manage relationships with donors and ensure compliance with funding agreements.
Develop and oversee annual budgets and financial plans.
Ensure sustainable financial management and transparency.
Organizational management
Build, lead and inspire a high-performing team.
Oversee recruitment, performance management, and professional development.
Ensure a positive organizational culture and effective internal communication.
Stakeholder engagement, communications and advocacy
Act as the primary spokesperson for the Fund.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government institutions, civil society, and private sector partners.
Represent the Fund at national and international events, including conservation forums, Conferences of Parties, Fundraising events and roadshows
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Advanced degree (master’s or equivalent) in environmental management, finance, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership roles within environmental conservation, sustainable development, or nonprofit management.
Proven experience in fundraising, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong understanding of conservation finance mechanisms.
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Fluency in Portuguese and English. Other languages will be an asset.
