About the Role:
Our work matters to millions. It’ll matter to you too. Join our Asset & Technology Solutions team as a Suction Excavator Operator, and you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and high-quality specialist excavation services across a range of complex and varied projects.
You’ll be responsible for operating truck-mounted suction excavation equipment, traveling to sites nationwide and delivering works in line with operational requirements and customer expectations, always maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate suction excavation machinery safely and efficiently on site
- Travel to and from sites, sometimes working away from home
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with current standards, policies and procedures
- Maintain strong focus on Zero Harm and safe systems of work
- Undertake basic HGV vehicle maintenance and checks
- Maintain competency certifications and complete required training
- Build strong relationships with customers and deliver high-quality service
- Identify hazards associated with groundworks and ensure risks are managed
- Provide feedback on safety issues and support continuous improvement
- Work flexibly, including nights and weekends where required
Who we're looking for
Essential:
- Experience operating suction excavators
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Safety Critical Medical
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and groundworks operations
- Ability to work flexibly and travel nationwide
- Good communication skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset
Desirable:
- HGV Class 2 licence
- CPC Drivers Card
- NVQ in Suction Excavation
- CPCS Suction Excavator qualification
- NRSWA Streetworks accreditation
