Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our dedicated team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals while working in a supportive and professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with relevant experience in senior care and supervising roles.
Duties
- Deliver personalised care to residents in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Supervise and support junior care staff, fostering a positive team environment and ensuring high standards of care delivery
- Assist residents with daily activities such as mobility, personal hygiene, medication management, and meal preparation
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, including updates to care plans and incident reports
- Promote residents’ independence whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing are prioritised
- Liaise effectively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive care
- Lead by example in adhering to health and safety regulations, infection control procedures, and company policies
- Organise and participate in staff training sessions to ensure continuous professional development
- Utilise IT systems for record keeping, scheduling, and communication purposes
Skills
- Proven experience in senior care or within a care home environment, with supervisory or leadership responsibilities preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals
- Ability to lead and supervise a team whilst maintaining a caring and empathetic approach
- Competence in developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans tailored to individual needs
- Driving licence is desirable for supporting residents' outings or errands outside the care home setting
- Good IT skills for managing electronic records and documentation efficiently
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, health & safety regulations, and infection control standards
