Long Meadow Care Home is a warm, family‑owned residential and dementia care home providing long‑term and respite care for adults, with a particular focus on older people who require compassionate, tailored support. Following a CQC inspection in October 2025, Long Meadow Care Home is fully compliant and rated Good in all areas. We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to work alongside the Registered Manager as we continue our journey towards achieving an Outstanding rating.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, You will support the Registered Manager in maintaining high standards of care, leading and developing the team, and ensuring the smooth, safe, and effective running of the service.
You will act as the operational lead in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring continuity of care and a positive, well‑led environment for residents, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Care Quality & Resident Wellbeing
- Ensure residents remain at the heart of care delivery through personalised, holistic support
- Promote dignity, independence, respect, and meaningful engagement
- Support activities and initiatives that enhance wellbeing and quality of life
- Champion high standards of dementia‑friendly care
Operational & Service Management
- Support the effective day‑to‑day running of the home
- Oversee staff rotas in advance, ensuring safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix
- Maintain accurate documentation, care records, and compliance systems
- Assist with audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement plans
- Uphold safeguarding, infection control, medication safety, and CQC standards
Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise, support, and appraise care staff and senior carers
- Foster a positive, supportive, and collaborative team culture
- Lead by example in professional conduct and best practice
- Support induction, training, and ongoing development of staff
Governance & Compliance
- Work within regulatory frameworks, organisational policies, and best practice guidance
- Ensure accurate incident recording, reporting, and learning
- Communicate effectively with families, professionals, and external partners
- Support multidisciplinary working and strong professional relationships
Medication Oversight
- Ensure the safe administration, storage, and recording of medication
- Maintain and support staff medication competency assessments
Leadership in the Manager’s Absence
- Provide full leadership and operational oversight when deputising
- Make informed decisions to ensure safety, continuity of care, and regulatory compliance
Person Specification Essential
- Experience within residential or dementia care
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Good knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and quality standards
- Experience supervising and supporting staff
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
Desirable
- Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification
- (Level 4 preferred or willingness to work towards)
- Strong understanding of dementia care best practice
- Experience using digital care planning systems
- Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development

Additional Information
- A competitive salary is offered, commensurate with experience.
- Working hours will be arranged across a 7-day rota, including weekend working when required.
- The successful candidate will take part in an on-call rota.
