My client is currently working on some high-profile and exciting projects in the Midlands with a very strong pipeline and are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their team.
Key Responsibilities;
The purpose of the role is to establish, maintain and operate a planning system in accordance with the planning procedures, providing a consistently high level of service. To effectively and professionally lead the planning function on multiple live projects ensuring the production teams are delivering the project time objectives.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing budgets, and ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a good understanding of construction processes, and experience in cost control.

Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment
- Analyse project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and resource requirements
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to gather pricing information and negotiate favourable terms
- Conduct risk assessments related to costs and develop contingency plans as necessary
- Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects
- Assist in tendering processes by preparing bid documents and evaluating tenders received
- Provide advice on cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies related to cost management
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Excellent skills in cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and team members
- Relevant qualification such as RICS accreditation or equivalent is preferred but not essential
- A proactive approach with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
