As a Memorial Fixer, you will play a key role in preparing, installing, maintaining and restoring memorials across local cemeteries and churchyards. You will work closely with our stonemasons and wider team to ensure every memorial is completed safely, professionally and respectfully.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Memorial, general masonry or stoneworking experience.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Physically fit and capable of safely handling heavy materials.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift Truck Licence.
- NAMM Registered Fixer qualification.
- BRAMM Fixer Licence.
- Experience using masonry machinery and power tools.
- Experience working within cemeteries or churchyards.
Role Responsibilities
Working alongside our stonemasons, no two days are the same. Priorities can change quickly depending on customer requirements, weather conditions and installation schedules. The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently, maintain high standards of workmanship and represent Jones Memorials professionally at all times.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Workshop Duties
- Preparing memorials ready for installation, including drilling, coring and fitting fixing systems.
- Polishing, cleaning and finishing memorials to a high standard.
- Carrying out repairs and restoration work to existing memorials.
- Using workshop machinery including saws, polishers, drills and other specialist equipment safely and competently.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, layouts and fixing instructions.
- Maintaining all workshop tools, machinery and equipment.
- Keeping the workshop, yard and storage areas clean, organised and safe.
- Assisting with stock control and notifying management when materials require replenishment.
- Checking and recording deliveries within 48 hours of receipt.
Memorial Installation & Cemetery Work
- Installing and fixing memorials in accordance with NAMM/BRAMM standards and company procedures.
- Removing existing memorials where required.
- Carrying out on-site repairs, renovations and maintenance work.
- Undertaking memorial safety inspections where necessary.
- Carrying out grave tending and memorial cleaning services.
- Working respectfully within cemeteries, churchyards and crematoria, always maintaining the dignity expected of our profession.
- Liaising courteously with cemetery staff, clergy and local authorities where required.
Customer Service
- Speaking with families and clients professionally when required.
- Representing Jones Memorials with courtesy, compassion and respect at all times.
- Ensuring every memorial installation reflects the high standards and reputation of the business.
Vehicles & Equipment
- Driving company vehicles, including cars, vans and forklifts (where authorised).
- Loading, securing and transporting memorials safely.
- Carrying out routine vehicle and equipment checks and reporting defects promptly.
General Responsibilities
- Working to agreed schedules and installation deadlines.
- Following all Health & Safety policies and risk assessments.
- Using appropriate PPE at all times.
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development.
- Assisting colleagues across the business where operationally required.
- Undertaking any other duties reasonably requested by management that are appropriate to the role.
