ConveyancingHome is a customer-focused conveyancing services provider founded by a team with extensive experience in the field. We are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier or Account Assistant to join our team of Licensed Conveyancers. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of our conveyancing practice, ensuring compliance with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) Accounts Rules and other related regulations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Process client account receipts and assist with identification of client funds.
- Process payments out of client and office account.
- Authorising client and office account payments on the bank (CHAPS, BACS).
- Approving Completion Statements and bills to facilitate fee earners’ work.
- Investigating and resolving monthly aged balances in compliance with CLC Account rules.
- Manage office account transactions, including supplier payments, invoices and Direct Debits.
- Reconciliation -Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Ensure all transactions comply with the CLC Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports for internal management, auditors, and regulatory bodies as required. Including assisting with month-end closing procedures.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and other external parties as necessary.
- Liaise with conveyancing teams to resolve any discrepancies or queries related to payments.
- Manage Nominal ledger transactions
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records on our accounting software and ensuring all financial documentation is properly filed and stored.
- Client Money Handling: Manage client ledgers, ensuring funds are correctly allocated and reported.
- Handle reserve account management, including interest calculations where applicable.
- Assist with billing and invoice preparation.
- Provide support to fee earners and other staff on financial queries.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar role within a legal environment.
- Familiarity with conveyancing transactions is highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Skills
- Strong understanding of the SRA / CLC Accounts Rules.
- Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g., Proclaim, LEAP, Quill, or similar systems).
- Microsoft Excel – proficient user.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- ILFM or equivalent qualification is preferred but not mandatory if experience is substantial.

Pay: £24,420.00-£30,263.68 per year
