Senior Technician
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per year (dependent on skills and experience)
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with experience working on high-performance and prestige vehicles, alongside the ability to support main dealer operations for Chery vehicles.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out diagnostics, servicing, repairs, vehicle enhancements, and manufacturer-specific procedures to the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to work across both the supercar sector and an authorised manufacturer environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive vehicle inspections and diagnostics to a high standard, identifying and rectifying mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
- Utilise wiring diagrams, manufacturer technical information systems, and advanced diagnostic equipment to diagnose complex issues.
- Perform coding, programming, software updates, ECU configuration, and calibration procedures where applicable.
- Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, MOT preparation, and repair work across a range of prestige and performance vehicles.
- Remove and replace components including exhaust systems, batteries, suspension components, steering systems, and braking systems.
- Carry out fitting of body modifications and performance upgrades.
- Undertake Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), vehicle health checks, and manufacturer recall campaigns.
- Ensure all technical activities comply with manufacturer recommendations, service procedures, and warranty standards.
- Diagnose and repair Chery vehicles in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and technical bulletins.
- Use Chery-approved diagnostic systems and maintain familiarity with Chery service platforms and software.
- Complete warranty documentation accurately and efficiently in line with manufacturer requirements.
- Attend and successfully complete manufacturer technical training programmes to maintain accreditation and stay up to date with new vehicle technologies, including hybrid and electric systems where applicable.
- Liaise effectively with manufacturers, technical support teams, and parts suppliers.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to the service team to ensure accurate customer updates.
- Ensure company hardware and software remain up to date, including the maintenance, setup, and repair of diagnostic equipment.
- Deliver and collect vehicles using the company trailer; training will be provided where additional qualifications are required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Support workshop efficiency and mentor junior technicians where required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a Senior Technician or Master Technician role.
- Extensive diagnostic and fault-finding experience across mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
- Previous experience working with supercars and prestige vehicles is highly desirable.
- Previous main dealer experience, particularly with Asian manufacturers or Chery vehicles, would be advantageous.
- Experience working with hybrid and electric vehicle systems is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with excellent timekeeping.
- Experience using manufacturer diagnostic platforms and workshop management systems.
- Valid licence to tow/drive with a trailer (Brian James RT6) is advantageous.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 18:00
