The Role
WhoFoundWho is working with a highly specialist independent day school in Croydon, supporting pupils aged 3–19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Many pupils have complex medical conditions, sensory impairments, and significant physical disabilities.
We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team as soon as possible.
This position is ideal for professionals who have previously worked in special schools or SEN settings and are confident with the demands of a PMLD environment.
You will play a vital role in supporting students’ learning, care, and therapy in a holistic setting that integrates education with medical and therapeutic support.
Responsibilities include:
- Manual handling and use of specialist equipment
- Personal care (including toileting, feeding, and changing)
- Supporting sensory-based learning activities
- Facilitating communication using non-verbal methods and assistive technologies
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and nursing staff to meet pupils' EHCP goals
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 6–12 months experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex medical needs, or physical disabilities
- Confident delivering personal care and using manual handling techniques (training can be provided if needed)
- Strong understanding of SEN best practices in a specialist school setting
- Team-focused, reliable, and emotionally resilient
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
- Enhanced DBS is required
