Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Working Shop Foreman to oversee operations within our steel fabrication workshop. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes. This role involves managing daily activities, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise productivity and safety within the workshop environment. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in coordinating teams, streamlining workflows, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the steel fabrication workshop, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Lead and motivate a team of technicians and operators, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Implement process improvements to optimise workflow, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity.
- Monitor quality control procedures to ensure all fabricated steel meets specified standards and client requirements.
- Manage assembly processes, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas; coordinate maintenance activities as needed.
- Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth production flow and resolve any operational issues promptly.
- Support training programmes for staff on new procedures or equipment to promote skill development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of workshop operations.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of quality control standards relevant to steel fabrication processes.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to organise teams effectively and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure operational efficiency and safety compliance.
