Phillips Tyres Shepton Mallet Ltd are looking for a tyre fitter / vehicle technician to work in our family business.
We have over 50 years+ experience and specialise in tyres, as well as servicing & repairs. We have an MOT station and perform class 4 & 7.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workshop Manager to oversee daily operations within our workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high standards of customer service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong organisational skills, mechanical knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The Workshop Manager will play a key role in driving business growth through effective upselling and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate workshop activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Lead, motivate, and support workshop staff to achieve performance targets and maintain high standards
- Oversee the scheduling of repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client queries, explaining services, and managing expectations
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain proper records of sales and payments
- Identify opportunities for upselling additional services or products to maximise revenue
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop environment
- Maintain organised records of work carried out, parts used, and customer interactions
- Monitor stock levels and placing orders as necessary to prevent shortages
Qualifications
- Proven experience in workshop or garage management or a similar supervisory role
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical issues effectively
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Experience in upselling services or products to customers effectively
- Competent in cash handling procedures with attention to accuracy in financial transactions
- Organised with strong leadership abilities to manage a team efficiently
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive or mechanical fields are desirable but not essential
You will be required to work 8:30am to 5:30pm, and every other weekend 8:30 t0 1:30pm. In return we offer a competitive salary and staff discount.
Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
