Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Plasterer for a short term contract, to assist in completing the refurbishment of a small listed building project, bringing walls and ceilings to life with skilled craftsmanship!
In this vital role, you'll be responsible for applying plaster/plasterboard to interior and exterior surfaces, transforming raw structures into finished masterpieces, that complement the previously completed lime rendered walls. Your expertise will ensure smooth, durable finishes that enhance the aesthetic and structural integrity of buildings.
There is a need for precision and durability in this project, which is of particular interest to Durham CC planning/heritage officers.
This position offers an opportunity to work on a rewarding residential heritage project overlooking the river Tees, bringing craftsmanship and attention to detail to every task.
Your expertise will help restore these dearly valued historic cottages, once housing the workers at the adjacent water mill.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers to ensure optimal plaster adhesion.
- Mix plaster materials accurately using hand tools and power tools for consistent consistency.
- Apply plaster using trowels, hawks, and floats to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces with precision.
- Operate power tools such as mixers, drills, and saws safely and effectively to facilitate application processes.
- Collaborate with other trades to coordinate project tasks seamlessly.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, smoothness, and and highest standards of finish.
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools including trowels, floats, and spatulas for detailed plaster work.
- Experience in bricklaying and masonry techniques to support diverse construction needs.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and efficiently in a construction setting.
- Basic carpentry skills for framing adjustments or surface preparations.
