Job Summary
PDSL is seeking a Graduate Prototype Vehicle Coordinator to support the day-to-day operation of a prototype and advanced vehicle fleet within a premium automotive engineering environment.
This is initially an engineering coordination and administration role.
The primary responsibility is to ensure that vehicle job cards, engineering activity records, vehicle histories and shift handover information are accurate, complete and up to date.
You will work closely with Vehicle Software Flashing Engineers and technicians supporting prototype vehicles across a two-shift operation. As your automotive knowledge develops, there will be opportunities to receive training in vehicle software flashing, diagnostics and vehicle electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update and close vehicle engineering job cards.
- Review vehicle history before work begins.
- Record engineering activities, software updates, faults and outstanding actions accurately.
- Capture clear engineering notes so the next engineer understands exactly what has happened to the vehicle.
- Maintain vehicle history and activity traceability.
- Identify incomplete job cards or missing information and obtain clarification from engineers.
- Support effective handover between engineers working across different shifts.
- Coordinate vehicle status through software update and engineering activities.
- Maintain accurate records of known faults, concerns and engineering workarounds.
- Liaise with engineers and technicians to ensure vehicle information is current and complete.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the prototype vehicle fleet.
Development Opportunity
This role provides a potential route into vehicle software flashing and diagnostics, but the successful candidate must first be comfortable taking ownership of the engineering administration and coordination responsibilities.
As experience develops, training and exposure may include:
- ECU software flashing
- Vehicle software updates
- Vehicle diagnostics and DTCs
- CAN network fundamentals
- Software configuration and version management
- Investigation of failed software updates
- Automotive diagnostic tools
Progression into hands-on flashing and diagnostic activities will depend upon capability, performance and operational requirements.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a technically minded graduate who is highly organised, accurate and comfortable with administrative responsibility.
You do not need previous professional automotive experience or existing vehicle flashing experience.
You should have:
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in Automotive, Electrical/Electronic, Motorsport, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Good written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate technical records.
- Confidence speaking with engineers and asking for missing information.
- Ability to follow structured engineering processes.
- Logical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage several vehicles or activities simultaneously.
- Genuine interest in automotive technology.
- Willingness to learn vehicle software and diagnostic systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-shift engineering operation.
Useful but Not Essential
Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial:
- Prototype or development vehicles
- Vehicle diagnostics
- CAN or LIN networks
- ECU software flashing
- Vehicle testing or validation
- CANoe, CANalyzer, INCA or DTS Monaco
- Formula Student
- Automotive university projects
- Vehicle workshops, placements or apprenticeships

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
