Street Cleansing Operative
Location: Farnham, Surrey, GU9 9PZ
Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:00am – 2:30pm
Weekly Hours: 45 hours per week
Pay Rate: £12.94 per hour
Overtime: Paid at time and a half
About the Role
We are recruiting for a Street Cleansing Operative to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public environments across Farnham and surrounding areas.
In this role, you will be responsible for removing litter, debris, and hazards from streets and public spaces, helping to ensure high environmental standards are consistently maintained.
This is a physically demanding outdoor role that requires commitment, reliability, and pride in maintaining clean public areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual sweeping of streets, pavements, and public areas
- Litter picking and removal of waste and debris
- Emptying and maintaining public bins
- Operating cleansing equipment such as mechanical sweepers and pressure washers (where trained)
- Identifying and reporting hazards or environmental issues
- Working as part of a team to complete scheduled routes efficiently
- Following all health and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- High level of physical fitness required (continuous walking, bending, lifting, and manual handling)
- Strong teamworking skills and positive attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious approach to work
- Ability to take pride in maintaining clean public spaces
- Previous experience in street cleansing or manual labour is beneficial but not essential
Training & Development
Full induction, training, and assessment will be provided. No prior experience is necessary as long as you are willing to learn and work safely.
