Summary
We are seeking a dedicated housekeeper/cook to join our team at Melrose Nursery. This role involves preparing nutritious meals that support the health and development of children, contributing to our mission of providing excellent early years care in a nurturing setting. Melrose Nursery is a vegetarian nursery.
As part of the role we need support with housekeeping, this involves helping support the children during lunch time, cleaning the lunch areas, restocking nappy cupboards and help with the laundry (no ironing). We have an end of day cleaner.
35 hours per week. 7 paid hours a day. start time 9am (can be flexible)
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook healthy, age-appropriate meals for children in accordance with dietary guidelines.
- Ensure all food safety standards are strictly followed. completing daily checks.
- Support children during lunch time alongside the team.
- Collaborate with the Directors to plan menus that meet nutritional needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
- Manage food inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Adapt recipes and meal plans based on individual dietary requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety, hygiene, and quality in food preparation.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
- Ability to work efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- An awareness of allergens, and an ability to adapt a dish to cater for children with allergy's.
- Passion for promoting healthy eating habits among children.
