About the Role:
6–10 Month Fixed Term Contract
The Account Manager is responsible for managing and retaining a portfolio of institutional accounts, driving revenue growth through strong relationship management, strategic account planning, and a consultative sales approach.
This role requires a deep understanding of customer needs, the ability to use data to inform decisions, and a proactive approach to identifying cross-selling opportunities across journal and non-journal products.
- Manage a portfolio of ~100–200 accounts, owning revenue targets and renewal performance
- Develop and execute strategic account plans, setting clear objectives and evolving strategies throughout the year
- Analyse customer usage data and performance trends to monitor account health and address risks proactively
- Lead renewals and renegotiations, ensuring compliance and managing associated documentation
- Identify and drive cross-selling opportunities aligned to institutional research needs
- Research customer organisations to understand priorities and tailor solutions accordingly
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across client organisations
- Deliver data-driven negotiations to achieve successful commercial outcomes
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular forecasting updates
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Customer Success, Sales Operations, and Editorial
- Represent the business at relevant industry conferences and events
- Act as a key point of contact for agency partners, maintaining regular communication.
- Proven experience managing strategic accounts and consistently hitting sales targets
- Experience in complex, consultative sales environments
- Strong ability to understand institutional research and teaching needs
- Demonstrated success in identifying and converting cross-selling opportunities
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly via email
- Ability to manage your own book of business independently
- Track record of exceeding revenue targets using a consultative sales approach
- Growth mindset with a strong focus on revenue generation
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant experience in account management or sales
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems
- Familiarity with sales methodologies
- Strong and professional LinkedIn presence

We are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
