Make low carbon surfaces for architects, designers, and makers. Four day week, with opportunity for overtime. Full training given.
ABOUT US
Low Carbon Industrial makes building materials with a much lower carbon footprint than the things they replace. Our Birmingham workshop makes two of them: Foresso, a timber terrazzo made from recycled wood, and No-Chip, a surface made from wood dust that would otherwise be waste. They go into kitchens, shops, offices, hotels, and galleries here and overseas.
We are a small team and we are looking for another pair of hands on production.
You do not need to have worked with our materials before. If you have done carpentry, joinery, worktop or kitchen fabrication, panel production, stone or solid surface work, or general factory production, you will pick this up.
HOURS AND PAY
- Monday to Thursday, 6.30am to 3.45pm
- Plus the last working Friday of each month, 8.00am to 3.00pm
- £13.50 per hour, rising to £14.31 after a 3 month probation
- Company pension, statutory holiday, free on-site parking
- Opportunity for overtime.
WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE DOING
You will move between jobs throughout the workshop:
- Preparing raw materials ready for production
- Casting and pouring
- Running panels through the wide belt calibrating sander
- Machine finishing to a high standard
- Hand sanding and finishing
- Lacquering
- Packing and getting orders out
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Attention to detail. Every panel gets inspected closely by the customer who ordered it.
- Physically up for it. You are on your feet, handling sheet material.
- Clean and methodical. Tidy work is safe work in a workshop this size.
- Willing to learn. We will teach you the rest.
USEFUL, BUT WE WILL TRAIN YOU
- Experience with wood, sheet materials, concrete, resin, or solid surface
- Industrial machinery: bandsaws, mixers, sanding machines
- Health and safety awareness
- An interest in sustainability and where materials come from
