Job Summary
Peckham Bazaar is looking for an energetic, knowledgeable and hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our independent restaurant. This is a working management role, with a considerable amount of time spent leading service alongside the front-of-house team.
At the heart of the role is creating memorable experiences for every guest and building a loyal community of regular guests. You will lead a warm, personal style of hospitality, ensuring returning guests are recognised and valued while making first-time visitors feel equally welcome. The successful candidate will take pride in understanding guests’ preferences, responding thoughtfully to feedback and creating the kind of experience that encourages people to return and recommend the restaurant.
You will also be involved in all aspects of running the business, including staffing, rotas, bookings, stock, suppliers, cost control and compliance. A genuine interest in food & wine is essential, particularly of the cultures of Greece, the Balkans and the wider Mediterranean.
Responsibilities
- Lead service from the floor, ensuring every guest receives warm, attentive and knowledgeable hospitality.
- Build lasting relationships with guests, recognise regulars and actively develop a loyal returning customer base.
- Recruit, train, schedule and motivate a small team to deliver consistent, personal service.
- Manage reservations, opening and closing procedures, cashing up, ordering, stock control and day-to-day administration.
- Work closely with the kitchen and owners to maintain high standards across the food, drinks, atmosphere and overall guest experience.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager, Floor Manager or in a similar restaurant leadership role.
- A natural host with a genuine passion for delighting guests and building long-term customer relationships.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to contribute to every aspect of running an independent business.
- A real interest in food, wine and other drinks, particularly those of Greece and the Mediterranean.
- Strong communication, organisation and commercial skills, including experience with rotas, labour costs, ordering and stock control.
