Highly Regarded Small Day Nursery – Sheffield S11
Not every Nursery Manager role is the same.
Small enough to know every child. Large enough to make a real difference.
Full-time | Permanent
40 hours per week
Nursery opening hours: Monday to Friday, 7.45am – 6.00pm
Salary: £33,500–£35,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
If you're looking for a nursery where you can focus on leading people, inspiring children and making a genuine difference – not chasing unpaid invoices – we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for someone who wants to build on an already excellent reputation, lead a dedicated team and create an environment where children, families and staff can all thrive.
Our well-established, small nursery in the Sheffield S11 area has built an excellent reputation over many years for providing high-quality care and education within a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment. Being a smaller setting means every child is truly known as an individual, relationships with families are at the heart of everything we do, and our team works closely together to create a supportive and rewarding place to work.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small, close-knit and experienced team in a nursery where quality always comes before quantity. You'll have the opportunity to spend meaningful time supporting children, staff and families, rather than feeling like you're simply managing a large operation.
Whether you're an experienced Nursery Manager or an aspiring leader ready to take the next step into managing a smaller nursery, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for. You'll be supported every step of the way whilst enjoying the autonomy to lead your own close-knit team and build on an already excellent reputation.
Why choose this role?
Unlike many Nursery Manager positions, your focus will be exactly where it should be – on the children, your team and the families you support.
Whilst you'll oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery and complete monthly funding and invoice checks, responsibility for financial management, credit control and debt recovery remains with the directors. This allows you to focus your time and energy on leading the team, supporting high-quality practice and achieving the best outcomes for children.
We offer:
- A friendly, welcoming nursery with a supportive team culture.
- A small nursery where you'll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships with every child, every family and every member of your team.
- An established nursery with an excellent local reputation.
- Strong, long-standing relationships with children and their families.
- Supportive, approachable directors who are always available for guidance and advice.
- The opportunity to lead an experienced and dedicated team.
- A role where your ideas and leadership will genuinely make a difference.
- Ongoing professional development and support.
- Company pension.
- Free on-site parking.

You'll work alongside your team across the nursery's opening hours, providing visible leadership and support throughout the week.
You'll inspire your team to deliver the highest standards of practice, maintain a strong safeguarding culture and continue building on the nursery's excellent reputation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and supporting the nursery team.
- Creating a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
- Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, care and education.

- Supporting admissions, settling-in sessions and transitions.
- Working alongside the directors to continually develop and improve the nursery.
- Supporting local marketing initiatives and helping prospective families experience everything our nursery has to offer.
About you
You'll be passionate about early years, committed to high standards and someone who enjoys bringing out the very best in others.
You'll have:
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
- Leadership experience within an early years setting.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The confidence to lead by example and support your team.
- A warm, approachable and professional manner.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for children.
You'll also need to be able to travel reliably to our Sheffield S11 nursery, whether by car or public transport.
