About us
Rivaaz is an award-winning Indian restaurant in Lymington and part of M95 Group. We run a busy, high-volume kitchen serving dine-in, takeaway and delivery, with a strong focus on standards and consistency.
The role
The kitchen porter is the backbone of the kitchen. You'll keep the pot wash on top of a fast service, prep the basics the chefs rely on, and make sure the section is clean, stocked and ready at all times. It's physical, fast-paced work in a team that pulls together.
Key responsibilities
- Washing frying pans, handis and heavy kitchen equipment, including soaking and degreasing at the end of service
- Washing plates, cutlery, glassware and serviceware, and returning them clean, dry and stored correctly
- Basic prep: peeling and preparing onions, potatoes, garlic, ginger and other vegetables to the standard set by the chefs
- Fetching stock, ingredients and equipment from fridges, freezers and dry store for the chefs during service
- Rotating stock, putting away deliveries and checking dates
- Keeping floors, surfaces, sinks and bins clean throughout the shift — spills mopped immediately, not at the end
- Taking out waste and managing recycling and grease disposal
- Deep cleaning tasks on a rota: shelves, walls, extraction, fridges and storage areas
- General support across the kitchen wherever the team needs it
What we're looking for
- Hard-working, reliable and punctual — you turn up on time, every shift
- Able to keep pace under pressure without letting standards slip
- Comfortable on your feet for long periods and lifting/carrying stock
- Clean and organised by habit
- A team player who takes instruction well and offers a hand without being asked
- Basic English for kitchen communication
- Previous kitchen porter or commercial kitchen experience is welcome but not essential — we'll train the right person
- Right to work in the UK
What we offer
- Approx. 40 hours per week, consistent shifts
- Staff meals on duty
- Training in food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Progression available
Pay: £10.00-£12.71 per hour
Work Location: In person
