Chester FC Community Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused Duty Manager to support the day-to-day operation of King George V Community Sports Hub.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team at one of Chester's leading community sports facilities. Working under the direction of the Head of Programmes, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the Sports Hub operates safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standards, providing an outstanding experience for customers, partners and the local community.
The Duty Manager will oversee the operation of the site during allocated shifts, supervising staff, maintaining high standards of health and safety, supporting facility bookings and ensuring the smooth delivery of football, community and commercial activities.
ROLE DETAILS
Position: Duty Manager
Location: King George V Community Sports Hub, Blacon, Chester
Hours: 30 hours per week on a shift rota
Contract: Permanent
Reporting to: Head of Programmes
Working pattern: Includes evenings, weekends and occasional bank holidays
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Experience working within a leisure, sports or community facility.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Good IT and administrative skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a sports or leisure environment.
- A flexible approach to working hours.
The following would also be advantageous:
- First Aid qualification.
- Fire Marshal training.
- Experience using facility booking systems.
- Experience working within the charity or community sport sector.

DUTY MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of King George V Community Sports Hub during allocated shifts.
- Open, close and secure the facility in accordance with operational procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service and act as the first point of contact for customers, clubs, schools and partners.
- Supervise Site Assistants and casual staff, allocating duties and maintaining high standards of performance.
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe, secure and presented to the highest standard at all times.
- Carry out routine inspections of the building, pitches and equipment, reporting or undertaking minor repairs where appropriate.
- Ensure all health and safety, safeguarding and emergency procedures are followed.
- Respond to incidents, accidents and customer enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Manage bookings, enquiries and payments using the Trust's booking systems.
- Support the delivery of football programmes, community activities, events and facility hire.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels and the safe set-up of equipment for activities.
- Help maximise facility usage through excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate operational records and complete reports where required.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Head of Programmes.
