We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Baking Assistant to join our small team at Wheatberry Bakery.
We’re a busy wholesale production bakery, producing sourdough bread and pastries for cafés and restaurants across Glasgow. This is a hands-on production role where pace, consistency and attention to detail matter.
THE ROLE
You’ll be involved in the full bread production process, including:
- Mixing dough
- Dividing and shaping bread
- Baking
- Packing orders
- Cleaning and maintaining a tidy production space
Experience in a professional bakery isn’t essential. We’re happy to train the right person, but we are looking for someone with a genuine interest in bread and baking who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment.
Once fully trained, you’ll be expected to confidently manage parts of production independently and unsupervised, so reliability is particularly important.
HOURS
24 hours per week
Sunday: 9pm–5am
Thursday: 7am–3pm
Friday: 7am–3pm
There is scope for the role to grow in the future, potentially up to full-time hours.
Because of the Sunday night shift and our location at Morris Park, Glasgow, you’ll need to be able to reliably get to and from the bakery at these times.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO
Is reliable, quick and organised, has strong attention to detail, works well independently and as part of a small team, and has a genuine enthusiasm for bread and baking.
You don’t need professional bakery experience — attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are more important to us.
WHAT WE OFFER
Up to £14 per hour, depending on experience, alongside staff bread and pastries, employee discount, training and the opportunity to develop your baking skills and take on more responsibility as the role grows.
This is a permanent position, subject to a three-month probationary period, with an ASAP start.
