Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Third in Charge to support our childcare centre. This leadership role is vital in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the nursery, fostering a nurturing environment for children, and assisting with team management. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and communication skills, along with a passion for early childhood education. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership abilities within a supportive team dedicated to high standards of childcare.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager and Deputy in overseeing daily centre operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Support and supervise staff members, providing guidance and mentorship to maintain high-quality care
- Engage with children in a caring, educational manner, promoting their development and well-being
- Organise activities that stimulate learning and socialisation, adhering to early childhood education principles
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress and centre updates
- Ensure health and safety standards are consistently met across the centre
- Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning schedules, and maintaining centre documentation
- Support staff during busy periods, stepping into leadership roles when necessary
Skills
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong understanding of early childhood education and childcare best practices
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with children of various ages, demonstrating patience and empathy
- Experience working with children with special needs is desirable
- Organised, proactive, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment
- Ability to lead by example, fostering teamwork and positive relationships among staff members
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
