With a rapidly expanding workload, we have an exciting opportunity for Inspecting Engineer Role. is seeking an experienced and competent Geotechnical Driller to join our ground investigation team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating borehole and window sampling equipment and other handheld or tracked systems across a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled driller who takes pride in high-quality work, values safety, and enjoys working outdoors as part of a professional and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate window sampling, dynamic probing, and borehole drilling equipment (including Dart Mini rigs and other small-scale rigs).
- Collect soil and groundwater samples in accordance with BS5930 and BS10175 standards.
- Accurately log drilling activities, sample depths, and ground conditions.
- Undertake maintenance and pre-start checks on rigs and equipment.
- Work effectively with site engineers, geologists, and other drilling staff.
- Ensure all work complies with company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Travel and stay away from home when required (with expenses covered)
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating window sampling / borehole drilling rigs
- CSCS card
- NVQ Level 2 in Land Drilling (Lead Driller) or equivalent qualification (preferred).
- Clean UK driving licence (essential).
- Strong commitment to safe working practices.
- Flexible approach to working hours and travel.

We have in place the Salary Sacrifice Scheme, you have the opportunity to exchange some of your taxable salary for a specific benefit in the form of pension that can be provided to you free of tax or National Insurance contributions, or both. Thus, although your taxable salary is reduced, you are provided with a benefit of an equivalent value which has the advantage of not being subject to tax. If the employee contributes 5%, the company will then contribute 3%, after 5 years of employment this will increase to 5%.
Salary Sacrifice is only available to certain staff members at Gabbitas Gill Partnership Ltd. If you are not eligible, your pension contributions will be processed through the Pension Scheme by standard life, where employees contribute 5% and the company contributes 3% and this will be taxable.
GGP operates a Death in Service Insurance policy whereupon should any permanent employee pass away whilst in employment with the company, a sum equal to 4 x annual salary shall be paid to the person(s) nominated by the employee.
