JOB DESCRIPTION – After School Club Coordinator
WMB Childcare Ltd working in partnership with Manchester City Council delivers quality childcare to the Manchester community. At WMB Childcare Ltd our aim is to lay a solid early years foundation for children in our care. We are looking to employ an amazing Afterschool Club Coordinator/ Nursery Manager to create a fun and exciting environment for the children to play and learn in.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide safe, high-quality play opportunities and care for children, and assist with the day to day organisation and operation of the club.
Main Functions:
- To lead in providing a high-quality activity and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
- To lead in providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities, preparing and organising the activities programme.
- To promote Learning through Play and to encourage play activities.
- To provide full care for the children, including receiving them safely from classes, after school clubs and parents/carers, and ensuring they are discharged to an appropriate adult.
- To provide refreshments for children.
- To ensure that the Club is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills/evacuation procedures are carried out effectively. To report any safety issues immediately to the Nursery Manager.
- To provide positive and firm control by implementing the school’s discipline/behaviour policy.
- To deal with cases of unruly or unsocial behaviour by children where appropriate and inform the Nursery Manager as soon as possible.
- To ensure records are properly maintained e.g., parents signing in and out (register), accident and incident book
- Where appropriate, administer basic first aid and record all details in the first aid book. To clean up after sickness of children in line with school policy.
· To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
- To liaise with parents/carers, informing them about the club and its activities, exchanging information about the children’s progress and encouraging parental involvement.
- To contribute to and implement all club policies and procedures.
- To attend meetings as appropriate.
- To plan for, carry out activities and evaluate them.
- To set up at the beginning of each session and to tidy away at the end of each session.
- To make daily progress observations of children.
- To take part in the day to day administration, record keeping, ordering and purchasing of supplies.
- To carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework
- To work within agreed policies and practices, including behaviour management, safeguarding, equal opportunities and Health & Safety
This post requires a DBS check as there may be periods of unsupervised access to children. An Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references would be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
