An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Advanced Practice team as an 8a Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the Paediatric Emergency Department at North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust. Applications will be accepted from paediatric qualified advanced practitioners and trainees advanced practitioners who have or are due to complete the master’s in advanced practice Paediatric course and have trained / been supervised within Urgent and Emergency care. You will be joining a highly motivated Paediatric Emergency Department team where you will continue to grow and develop in your role alongside the wider clinical / nursing and leadership teams.
Our Paediatric Emergency Department service we are dedicated to learning, leading innovation and service development in response to our patients / families / carers and system level demands, to enhance our patient experience and provide sustainability to the Paediatric Emergency Department and the wider organisation.
The Paediatric Advanced (Nurse) Practitioner (AP) in the Emergency Department will play a critical role in
providing expert clinical care to children and young people presenting with urgent and emergency conditions
within scope practice. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the AP will deliver high-quality, evidence-based
care, offering advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients within the
Paediatric ED within scope of practice.
The role also involves leadership, education, and service development responsibilities, with a focus on
improving patient outcomes, enhancing team capability, and ensuring that clinical practices meet the latest
standards and guidelines.
The post-holder will work autonomously and collaboratively with consultants, resident doctors, advanced
practitioners and nurses, to provide a safe, efficient, and child-centred service, applying policies/guidelines
and evidence-based practice.
The post holder will also provide expert advice delivering the four pillars of advanced practice, clinical,
leadership, education, research and supervision, support, and mentorship for multidisciplinary professionals
including trainee, APs, and clinical nursing.
