Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in senior care. The ideal candidate will have experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, with a particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of recreational programmes designed to enhance residents' quality of life, promote social interaction, and support their emotional well-being. The Activities Co-ordinator will play a vital role in creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere that caters to the diverse needs of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a wide range of stimulating activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music sessions, reminiscence therapy, and gentle exercise programmes.
- Foster an engaging environment that encourages social interaction, independence, and participation among residents.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to assess individual needs and preferences, ensuring activities are appropriate for residents with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken and residents’ participation levels to monitor progress and adapt programmes accordingly.
- Organise special events and outings that promote community involvement and enhance residents’ experiences.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote understanding of the activity programme’s benefits.
Qualifications
- Experience working within assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
- Prior involvement in senior care or dementia care is advantageous, particularly with Alzheimer’s care.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with older adults, including those with cognitive impairments.
- Demonstrated organisational skills to plan, coordinate, and evaluate diverse activity programmes.
- Compassionate approach with genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults through meaningful engagement.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care.
