Description

As part of a Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship, you'll support key business operations and contribute to an exciting ERP system transition, gaining valuable experience and highly sought-after industry skills.
The successful candidate will provide support to the Merchandising function through accurate data management, analysis, reporting and stock administration.
This is a development role combining practical experience in data analysis and merchandising with a Level 4 Data Technician apprenticeship. The successful candidate will develop an understanding of how accurate product, stock and commercial data supports effective business decisions, while gaining practical experience of working with business systems and data.
The role will work closely with the Head of Merchandising and relevant teams across Production, Logistics, Quality Control, Finance, Wholesale and Retail.
A key part of the role will be supporting the Company's upcoming transition from its existing ERP system to a new ERP system. The Apprentice will assist with data preparation, cleansing, validation, migration testing and documentation, gaining practical experience of data migration and systems implementation.
The role will develop over the course of the apprenticeship, with responsibility increasing as the Apprentice gains knowledge, confidence and technical capability.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising Support
- Support the Head of Merchandising with the day-to-day management and analysis ofstock information.
- Assist with the collection, organisation and analysis of product, stock,sales, sell through and production data.
- Maintain accurate datasets and reporting files, ensuring information is complete, consistent and up to date.
- Support the preparation of regular and ad hoc reports including stock availability, sales, sell through, best sellers, and production reports.
ERP System Migration Project
The Apprentice will play a supporting role in the Company's upcoming transition from its existing ERP system to a new ERP system. These duties will be variable and dependant on which system is chosen etc. but may include:
- Supporting the preparation of existing data for migration into the new ERP system.
- Supporting the review and mapping of existing data fields to the new system.
- Assisting with data validation and reconciliation before and after migration.
- Supporting the testing of migrated data to ensure information is accurate and complete.
- Working with the Head of Merchandising and relevant projectstakeholdersto ensure data-related tasks are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
You will not be expected to have prior ERP migration experience and will receive appropriate guidance and supervision while developing these skills.
Apprenticeship & Professional Development
- Attend all required apprenticeship training and coaching sessions.
- Complete apprenticeship assignments, assessments and workplace activities within agreed timescales.
- Maintain an appropriate portfolio of evidence demonstrating the development of knowledge and skills.
- Make effective use of the Company's working time allocated for off-the-job apprenticeship training.
- Take responsibility for personal learning and development, with support from the line manager and Development Coach.
- Apply learning from the apprenticeship directly to workplace activities.
- Develop knowledge of data governance, GDPR, data security and responsible data handling.
- Develop skills in data collection, migration, cleaning, transformation, analysis and visualisation.
- Develop the ability to communicate data insights effectively to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Entry requirements
Essential
- A minimum grade of 4/C in GCSE Maths and English.
- A genuine interest in data, analysis, merchandising and how data can support business decisions.
- Previous experience using Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Good organisational and time-managementskills.
- Good communication and interpersonalskills.
- Ability to follow processes and procedures while also identifying opportunities for improvement.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable
- An interest in the jewellery industry.
- Previous retail, wholesale, manufacturing or merchandising experience.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis, reporting or visualisation.
Training to be provided
As part of the Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship, you'll develop the skills to collect, analyse and interpret data to support business decision-making. You'll gain hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and techniques, including SQL and Python, while learning how to manage data projects, build reports and dashboards, and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders. You'll also develop an understanding of data quality, governance and ethical data practices.
15 month practical period with a 12 week End Point Assessment.

Upon completion go the apprenticeship you will receive a level 4 certificate in Data Analyst Apprenticeship, which will allow you to join the British Computer Society (BCS) as an Associate Member.
