TEMPORARY PART-TIME SHOP ASSISTANT – BATLEY
18.5 hours per week | Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
Temporary position with potential to become permanent
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused person to join our friendly team at our Batley shop.
This is a varied, fast-paced role where you’ll be helping customers, preparing fresh food and keeping the shop running smoothly. You’ll need to be friendly and approachable, work well under pressure and take pride in providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a warm, helpful and efficient service to all customers
- Preparing freshly made-to-order sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and baked goods
- Serving customers and handling transactions accurately
- Maintaining a clean, safe and tidy shop in line with food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Restocking and keeping displays looking clean and well presented
- Working as part of a small, close-knit team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the shop
Experience & Skills
- Previous retail, café or food service experience is preferred, but full training will be given
- Food handling and food hygiene experience would be an advantage
- Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with customers
- Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude to work
- Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
- Well organised and able to multitask during busy periods
- Comfortable working at pace while maintaining high standards of customer service and food hygiene
About the Role
18.5 hours per week, across:
- Tuesday: 11.00am – 3.30pm
- Wednesday: 11.00am – 3.30pm
- Thursday: 8.30am – 2.00pm
- Saturday: 9.30am – 1.30pm
This is a temporary position to cover long-term sickness, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position in the future.
Flexibility is essential
Although you will have set regular working days, we need someone who is able to provide additional daytime cover for staff holidays and sickness when required.
Additional shifts may fall anywhere between 8.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Saturday, so applicants must have sufficient daytime availability to be flexible when cover is needed.
