About The Role

Location: Hybrid (Remote/Site) – regular on-site presence required, with occasional travel to other locations. A full list of our IUC sites / locations can be found on our website
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Circa £53,000 per annum

Start Date: This position is expected to commence on 1 September 2026 and is subject to the successful outcome of an ongoing Urgent Care (UC) service redesign project.

Join Our Team as a Clinical Duty Shift Manager

We're looking for an experienced and resilient IUC Duty Shift Manager (Clinical) to join our Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) Operational Delivery Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered healthcare professional with IUC/111 experience to take a pivotal role in the real-time management of clinical operations, ensuring safe, effective, and responsive patient care across our network.

As the Clinical Duty Shift Manager, you'll be responsible for the real-time management of 111 and Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) clinical queues, working closely with operational colleagues to manage risk, resources, service performance, and patient safety.

You will act as a key clinical decision-maker, providing expert guidance, managing live operational risks, supporting escalation processes, and ensuring high-quality service delivery during operational shifts.

What you'll be doing

Provide expert NHS Pathways support and guidance to 111 network contact centres.
Lead risk assessment activities across 111 and CAS clinical callback queues.
Run and support the Clinical Advice Line for Health Advisors and Clinical Advisors.
Monitor live operational performance, including KPIs such as ASA, abandonment rates, validation rates and clinical callback performance.
Manage real-time clinical resources and workforce deployment to maintain safe service delivery.
Collaborate with the non-clinical Duty Shift Manager to ensure effective operational performance.
Lead operational responses to incidents, escalation events, OPEL processes and business continuity scenarios.
Maintain accurate management reports and clinical documentation throughout shifts.
Act as a key point of contact for service delivery risks, operational issues and network communications.

Essential Qualifications

Current NMC or HCPC registration.
Current or previous NHS Pathways Licence (or ability to complete Return to Practice).

Essential Experience

Experience managing real-time clinical service delivery within an IUC/111 environment.
Clinical management and live resource management experience.
Incident management and business continuity planning (BCP).
Risk management and clinical auditing experience.
