Practice Manager (GP Surgery)
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Hours: Part-Time / Full-Time
Salary: Up to £62,000 per annum

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, ambitious and values-driven Practice Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for a forward-thinking GP surgery in Ipswich.
Working closely with the GP Partners, you will translate the practice's vision into deliverable plans, strengthen the senior management team and ensure the continued delivery of high-quality, patient-centred primary care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice, leadership and constructive challenge to the GP Partners.
- Lead, mentor and hold the established Operations Manager accountable.
- Oversee CQC compliance, governance, risk management and contractual requirements.
- Support financial planning, workforce management and estates oversight.
- Lead business continuity, health and safety and organisational resilience.
- Drive digital transformation, quality improvement and service redesign.
- Lead recruitment, staff development, HR and workforce planning.
- Support PCN activity and build effective relationships with the ICB, NHS England and wider system partners.
- Promote a positive culture focused on patient experience, staff wellbeing, teamwork and continuous improvement.
About You
You will be an experienced senior manager with a strong understanding of NHS primary care and the ability to operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels.
Essential:
- Significant senior management experience in NHS primary care or a comparable healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of GMS/PMS contracts, CQC and primary-care regulation.
- Experience leading or supporting management teams and diverse workforces.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with Partners, staff, patients and external stakeholders.
- Financial, governance and risk-management capability.
- A confident, approachable and resilient leadership style.
Desirable:
- PCN/Network Contract DES experience.
- SystmOne knowledge.
- Experience in a GP training practice.
- Quality improvement, transformation or service redesign experience.
- Management or leadership qualification.
