James Wellesley Joinery is a well-established, high-end joinery business specialising in bespoke cabinetry, furniture, and architectural joinery. Based in our modern, well-equipped workshop in Gillingham (ME8), we pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and delivering outstanding results for our clients.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Cabinet Maker / Joiner to join our growing team. You will work on a variety of exciting bespoke projects, ranging from fitted furniture to high-spec architectural joinery. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented craftsman to showcase their skills in a supportive and creative workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Constructing and assembling high-quality bespoke cabinets, furniture, and joinery items to exact specifications.
- Accurately interpreting technical drawings, plans, and client briefs.
- Working with a wide range of premium materials, including solid hardwoods, softwoods, and sheet materials.
- Safely and efficiently operating workshop machinery (table saws, planers, CNC machines, etc.).
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment.
- Collaborating closely with the team to meet deadlines while upholding the highest standards of workmanship.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cabinet Maker, Joiner, or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of completed work.
- Excellent working knowledge of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications with confidence.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine pride in producing beautiful, high-quality work.
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and a collaborative team spirit.
- Own transport and tools are preferred but not essential.
- Must be based locally or able to commute to Gillingham, Kent (ME8).
