ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join a retail company in the Cayman Islands. This role supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the entire store, implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive sales, and increase profitability. The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient, while overseeing department managers across assigned areas.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring store goals and budgets
- Oversee department managers, providing guidance on daily operations, associate development, and customer satisfaction
- Lead recruitment, training, assessments, and employee development in line with company policies
- Establish and monitor performance goals for departments, empowering associates to meet or exceed targets
- Maintain store appearance, product presentation, shelf maintenance, and display standards
- Monitor and control inventory levels, shrink reduction, and waste management
- Enforce compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards
- Handle customer complaints and ensure resolution in accordance with company policies
- Conduct regular store self-inspections and report maintenance or equipment issues promptly
- Monitor payroll procedures, reporting, and policy compliance
- Collaborate with Loss Prevention on safety awareness and loss prevention programs
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping including markups, markdowns, voids, refunds, and spoilage write-offs
- Run productive team meetings and foster a respectful, supportive, team-oriented culture
WHAT YOU BRING
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in retail operations or a related field
- Proven industry knowledge and experience in a fast-paced retail environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; must read, write, and speak English fluently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote, and To-Do
- Solid understanding of intermediate retail terms, math, and financial reporting
- Demonstrated leadership ability with sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with diverse cultures and teams in a collaborative, productive manner
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask under pressure
- Flexible availability across a 5-day week with varying hours as store needs dictate
- High school diploma or equivalent
