We are looking for an experienced Seamstress and Production Assistant to join our friendly Operations Team at Parc Menai, Bangor. This is a varied, hands-on role combining professional sewing and product-finishing work with the preparation, assembly and packing of our needlepoint kits, wool collections and accessories.
The Role
As a Seamstress and Production Assistant, you will play an important part in ensuring that our products are finished, assembled and presented to the high standards associated with the Elizabeth Bradley brand.
Your main responsibilities will include finishing completed needlepoint pieces, making cushions in a range of sizes, framing finished work and producing needlepoint tray inserts. You will also support the wider production process by assembling kits and accessories, checking stock, preparing orders and completing quality-control checks.
You will work closely with your Line Manager to ensure orders are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.
Applicants must have previous experience working as a seamstress and be confident using a sewing machine, measuring and cutting fabrics, and completing detailed sewing and finishing work. Full training will be provided in our specific products, techniques and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Sewing and Product Finishing
- Finishing completed needlepoint pieces to a consistently high standard.
- Making needlepoint cushions in a variety of sizes and styles.
- Measuring, cutting, pinning and sewing fabrics accurately.
- Fitting cushion backs, zips, piping, trims and cushion pads where required.
- Preparing and framing completed needlepoint pieces.
- Making needlepoint inserts for trays and other accessories.
- Handling customers’ completed needlepoint pieces carefully and respectfully.
- Keeping sewing machines, tools and work areas clean, organised and in good working order.
Production and Kit Assembly
- Supporting the manufacture and assembly of Elizabeth Bradley needlepoint kits and accessories.
- Preparing canvases, wool, instructions and other kit components.
- Checking that kits contain the correct materials and quantities.
- Packing completed kits and accessories ready for retail, dispatch or storage.
- Supporting the preparation and packing of wool orders.
- Carrying out quality checks throughout the production and packing process.
- Ensuring finished products are clean, correctly labelled and presented to a high standard.
- Working efficiently to meet production schedules and customer-order deadlines.
Stock and Deliveries
- Checking and processing incoming deliveries.
- Confirming that delivered goods are correct, complete and in good condition.
- Reporting damaged, missing or incorrect items to the appropriate person.
- Assisting with regular stock takes.
- Maintaining an organised, tidy and clearly labelled stockroom.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or discrepancies to management.
- Moving and storing materials safely and appropriately.
- Helping to ensure production materials are available when needed.
Team Support
- Working closely with colleagues across the Operations and Sales Teams.
- Communicating clearly about stock, orders, deadlines and production requirements.
- Supporting other production activities during busy periods.
- Following company procedures for quality control, health and safety and safe working.
- Contributing to a positive, cooperative and supportive working environment.
- Completing additional reasonable duties as required by the Line Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience, Skills and Qualities
- Previous professional experience working as a seamstress or in a similar sewing-based role.
- Strong practical sewing or soft-furnishing construction skills.
- Confidence using domestic or industrial sewing machines.
- Experience measuring, cutting, pinning and sewing fabrics accurately.
- Experience fitting zips, piping, trims or similar finishing details.
- Strong hand-sewing skills.
- The ability to complete detailed sewing and finishing work to a consistently high standard.
- Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach.
- Pride in producing high-quality finished work.
- Patience and care when working with detailed, delicate or valuable items.
- A positive, proactive and dependable attitude.
- Basic IT skills or a willingness to learn.
- A genuine interest in craftsmanship and the Elizabeth Bradley brand.
